They call them phablets. I swear I thought of that early last year when I got my first Samsung Galaxy, the original Note. Lost trademark opportunity aside, I’m still with Galaxy but now have the S4.
The reasons were simple. Not bashing i-products (am a proud owner of a MacBook Air and Ipad mini) it’s just phones are so personal,…. an extension of your hand anymore, it’s nice to have something DIFFERENT and not bow to the iCult.
Don’t tell that to the i-Generation (another thing I should ™); not having an iPhone is the statistical equivalent of social death. As adults when everyone gathers at the table or around the island and we set our phones down, I proudly brandish the OTHER one. A true conversation piece.
The Note was the perfect reverse commute. WAYYY different! Big. And Big is good since phones are now your camera, computer, entertainment and general BFF. If’ I’m going to be looking down at my own tiny screen, which is the new reality when seated on the couch with the family, or on a plane or … oh good lord, where AREN’T phones around? The theatre and church. That’s all I can think of. Anyway, I’d like to enjoy that Instagram photo, Tweet or game of 4Pics1Word and a keypad big enough to type without tripping over my thumbs.
So, I’m scooting along with the S4, noted by several blogs as the #2 phone of 2013, way ahead of the iPhone when the Note 3 comes out. The S4 is a great phone. Actually when I went to window shop the Note3, the guy at the store pointed me to the S4. I have a fantastic, brand new phone, but I wannnnnnttttt the Bigger, better, phab-er Note3.
